Obituary of James T. Viola, Sr.

Viola, James age 91, of Fort Lee on Saturday June 23, 2018. Born in Fort Lee, James was a member of the Viola Fort Lee Pioneer Family. He worked as developer for the various film companies once located in Fort lee.  James later became the owner and operator of the D&V Film storage company which stored films for production companies. James was a proud veteran who served his country proudly in the Navy during World War II. His personality was personified by his attention to detail and work to serve the veterans of Fort Lee by always putting the needs of others before his own. James was honored by becoming the Commander of the VFW Post 2342. He was the designer who promoted many monuments. James took the most pride with the WWII monument in front of borough hall, but what gave him the most recognition was Veterans Square which he created. He also worked as the Commissioner of the Parking Authority of Fort lee and was the Vice Chairman of the Democratic Party of Fort Lee for many years. Beloved husband of the late Doris Ann Viola. Adored father to Karen Lione and her husband Tony and James Viola Jr. and his wife Mary Ann. Devoted Grandfather to Laura, Michael, David, Matthew and great grandson Austin. Dear brother to Frank Viola. Predeceased by his siblings Gloria Meyers, Anna Barbarulo, Caroline Moller, Florence Burrows, Charles, Willie, Joseph and John Viola. The family will receive their friends on Thursday 3:00 – 8:00 PM at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street “opposite the Fort Lee Library”.  The funeral will leave Friday at 10:30 AM for the celebration of his funeral mass in the Main Madonna R. C.
