Helen (Elenitsa) Frangiskou. In receiving all the phone calls for condolences, they all had one common denominator - "a woman with a heart of gold." Everybody loved her as she would extend her love and offerings to any individual - friend, family or stranger - all equal.
Elenitsa (Helen) Frangiskou, age 76 passed away on Wednesday September 26,2018 at her place of residence in Fort Lee, NJ.
She was born in Karavas, Cyprus on July 28, 1942 to parents Herodotos and Mari Tangrides, both deceased. She emigrated to the United States in 1960.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Andreas, her 2 sons Peter and Mario, their wives Agni and Rene, her sister Chrisoulla Nicolaou, God Daughter/niece Anna Nicolaou, niece Mariana Nicolaou along with her deceased sister Doris Tangrides, and deceased nephew Nikos Nicolaou.
Kostakis, Nikos and Stavros Papapetrou were also called her brothers as they grew up together in Cyprus in the same house.
She was a warm and loving grandmother to her 5 grandchildren, Andreas, DemetraMaria Eleni, Alexa, Sophia and Julianna Frangiskou.
Friends and family best describe her as a loving, giving, caring kind person – a woman with a heart of gold.
Eleni was first and foremost a Greek Cypriot at heart. She loved her country and was very proud of her heritage. Eleni survived the war in 1974 with her family and successfully escaped back to the US. She had a dream to return to her country and house one day.
Her entire life was devoted to taking care of her mother, husband, children and grandchildren. She will be missed but never forgotten.
