Obituary of Marianne F. Allen

ALLEN, MARIANNE F. – of Fort Lee, N.J., age 86, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2019. Born in Queens, N.Y., Marianne is best known for her Broadway career in the early fifties, dancing and singing with her younger sister, Benita, in the D’Andrea Sisters; the duo toured all fifty states with many celebrities, including Tony Bennet. As a teenager, she auditioned for the Rockettes, but the headgear was too heavy, and she couldn’t keep her balance being all of five foot three. After her successful career as a performer, Marianne entered real estate, eventually becoming a nationally recognized and beloved agent trainer. Teaching became her passion, and all who attended her classes reciprocated that passion and praised her tutelage. Even in retirement, she remained active, continuing to help and inspire others by volunteering at Englewood Hospital three days a week. She loved to read, play Scrabble, and root for the New York Yankees. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Marianne is survived by her three sons, Terry, Michael and John, her granddaughter Iris, her brother Bernard D’Andrea, his wife Susan and their son Drew.  The family will receive their friends on Tuesday 3-5 & 7-9 pm at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street “opposite the Fort Lee Library”.  The funeral will leave Wednesday at 10:30 AM for the celebration of her funeral mass in the Historic Madonna R.C. Church On The Hill at 11:00 AM.   For condolences, directions, or information call (201) 944-0100 or www.frankpatti.com
