To Peter’s family, please accept my deepest sympathy and condolences.
I knew Peter through my career at SGL. He deeply impacted my career by transferring me from Niagara Falls, NY to Charlotte, NC in 1996. It was my first major relocation, plus it was a newly created position in a new business process. There were numerous “bumps” along the way, but I could always discuss them with Pete. He truly had an open door policy. I thank him for that!

My cousin Peter was six months younger than me. During WWII our families shared a house in Cranbury, NJ, across the street from a military contract poultry plant in which Peter’s parents and my father worked. My mother, a nurse, cared for Peter and his younger brother Charles as well as my two younger siblings and me during the day.
There was rationing of food and gasoline..... no sweets, no treats, no trips. We kids didn’t care. Peter and I did everything together, behaving like brothers. I have such happy memories of my wonderful cousin.
Our condolences to Helen and the entire family on their loss.

Growing up as part of a big Irish Catholic family, many of our fondest memories are of family gatherings and time spent with our cousins. Peter was tur second oldest cousin - older, bigger than us and handsome too - we were in awe of him as youngsters. He is the first of our cousins to be lost to us and we are deeply saddened by his sudden and unexpected death. We send our heartfelt sympathy to his beloved wife, Helen, and to his family and all those who knew him.
The Spencer Sisters,
Megan, Nancy, Christine, Kathryn and Amy

I am so sad to hear of the passing of my lifetime friend Peter Hoffman. We shared lots of time together over the years. My best to my equally good friend Helen. My best to Kathy and Michael, who I never met, but heard so much about from their dad. May Pete’s soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Dear Helen & Family, I grew up with Peter as a child and later worked with him at Great Lakes Carbon. Later I saw the the work he did for SGL America. He had an excellent reputation and was well thought of in the carbon industry for his leadership and fairness. I cherish the memories from the last 78 years. He was always fun to be with and a man I was always proud to call my cousin. You will be in Ginni and my prayers as you deal with his passing. Ed & Ginni Western, Kingston, TN
