Ekmekjian, Mardiros, "Marty", age 80, of Valley Cottage, NY formerly of Lodi and Cliffside Park, NJ, on Saturday February 4, 2017. He was an Armenian born in Pinarbasi, Turkey. He attended The American School for Boys in Talas. He served in the military in Ankara as an interpreter to the U.S. Army and worked for Hilton Hotels in Istanbul before Immigrating to the U.S. in 1960. He came with very little, he worked hard and created opportunities for himself, his family, and many others as a sponsor and friend. He was the former owner of Marty's Star Carpet in Cliffside Park, Star Rugs in Englewood, Fort Lee Sunoco as well as other businesses. Beloved husband of Catherine (nee:Yotka). Cherished companion of Silva Eprem. Devoted father of Elizabeth "Lisa" Ekmekjian and her husband Jody Schupak, Deirdre Ekmekjian Bagarazzi and her husband Mark, Daniel Ekmekjian and Mardiros M. Ekmekjian and his wife Kristen. Adored grandfather of Mardiros, Jr., Sofia, Lily and Jace. Dear brother of Anjel Torosian and her husband Misak "Mike" and Rakel Daniele and her husband Lee and his late sisters Vehanus, Viktor and late brother Vartan. He helped anyone in need, and cared about all. The family will receive their friends on Tuesday 4-8 pm at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street "opposite the Fort Lee Library". All are asked to assemble Wednesday 10:30 am in St. Leon's Armenian Church (Fairlawn) for funeral services.
