Obituary of Ann Monaghan

Ann Theresa Monaghan, nee: Scollan, age 91, of Sparta, formerly of Bergenfield, passed away on September 17, 2021 in Hope, NJ.

Ann was born in the Bronx, New York to Thomas and Nora Scollan (nee: Cahill) on January 17, 1930. She attended high school at Cathedral High School and graduated in 1948. She worked as a clerk for Verizon for 22 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was an avid fan of the New York Rangers, New York Giants and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Ann’s generosity, compassion and kindness will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Ann is survived by her sons Michael (Christi), Thomas (Wendy), John, and Francis (Sarah) and daughter-in-law Siobhan Monaghan. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christine Babasade (Tim), Michael Hynes, Alyssa Lusardi (Nick), Sean Monaghan, Caitlin Monaghan (fiancé Matt Schollmeyer), Bridget Monaghan, Rory Monaghan, Macklin Monaghan, Tadg Monaghan, Norah Monaghan Declan Monaghan, five great grandchildren, her sisters Kathleen Cassidy and Mary Knesel, and her brother John Scollan. She is preceded in death by her husband Francis J. Monaghan, her daughter Patricia A. Hynes, her son Brian G. Monaghan, her sister Eileen Blake, and her brothers Thomas Scollan and Francis Scollan.

The family will receive their friends and family on Tuesday September 21, 2021 from 4:00-8:00pm at Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home, 327 Main St. Fort Lee, NJ “opposite the Fort Lee Library”. The funeral will leave Wednesday September 22, 2021 at 10:00 am for the celebration of her funeral mass in Madonna Roman Catholic Church at 10:30am.  For condolences, directions or information www.frankpatti.com or call (201)944-0100.
