Helen, I want to express my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of Marty. As you are well aware, Marty and I were not only close friends but we shared equal views on the way police locals should proceed with integrity and fairness on the local, state and federal level. Marty was instrumental in passing legislation that corrected the state’s misapplication of federal tax law on taxing disability pensions. This allowed for retro-active refunds (a certain number of years) and the elimination of federal taxes on disability pensions for those injured in the line of duty. Marty accomplished a great deal as a trustee for the State of New Jersey Police and Firemen’s Pension Board. His legacy of kindness, truthfulness, and deep support for all our members will be remembered forever. Frank Casey
