The Corbin, Degast and Carfora family opened up both their hearts and home to me, as a young kid who grew up just down the street.
My friends and I were a constant presence inside their home which provided us a safe place to always hang out at throughout my entire childhood and young adult life.
This provided many lessons for me personally as I grew up. I’ll explain one of those lessons learned. During many “late nights” inside the basement spending time with friends, Mr. Corbin would emerge and walk down the stairs at 4am to leave the home for work which he did everyday. Many evenings we would be in the driveway playing basketball and I would see him return home from work at 5pm. Mr. Corbin had clearly demonstrated to me what the definition of hard work was. He provided me with this valuable lesson that in order to succeed in life, you have to work hard to provide for your family.
He even worked hard to provide a safe place for all of us and considered many of my friends and I as extended family. He always enjoyed seeing all of us who grew up in his home succeed and took great pride in our happiness and achievements. I can only imagine the type of incredible leader he was while serving our country. I am very thankful of our conversations and will always hold those conversations near to my heart.
In addition to my parents, I am extremely comfortable saying that I am a product of many positive people that have helped me and inspired me at many different points throughout my entire life. Mr. Donald Corbin is no doubt one of those people. I would not be here today and where I am today, without the many valuable lessons learned from him.
Thank You for everything you have done for me. I will forever hold a special place in my heart for you.
Love,
Eddie Young
