Obituary of Genevieve Tremble
Jan Tremble (née Genevieve Elena Martin) age 91 of Palisades Park, NJ, Florida, and Paia, Maui, HI, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2015. Her energy, enthusiasm and sheer love of life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being in her address book. Jan was pre deceased by her beloved husband of 41 years Bertram Tremble. She is survived by her loving sons: Kevin and his wife Janet (Tenafly, NJ), Glenn and his wife Alice (Maui, HI) and Richard. She has 4 beloved grandchildren: Elizabeth, Catherine, Paulina and Ryder. She is preceded in death by her sister, Ann O'Neal and brothers' Edward and Carl Martin. A Jersey girl for most of her life, Jan was born at Englewood Hospital to Carl S. Martin and Ellen Leahy Martin on January 18, 1924. She graduated from Leonia High school in 1942 and went on to work for 4 years as a clerk typist for the Office of Scientific Research and Development on the Manhattan Project. In the early 50's, "Miss Jan" with "Miss Betty" McGavack and "Miss Ginny" Leslie operated "The Little House" nursery school in Leonia. Several years later she began work at Tech Repro, a Hackensack-based printing and reprographics firm, founded by her husband Bert. After 20 years she retired as company president in 1989. Jan was the type of person everyone wanted to be around -- friendly and outgoing, upbeat and positive. She was a gracious, kind and generous lady who was devoted to her family. She had a big heart and embraced those who needed extra help and support. Voted "Most Friendly" in high school, it was widely known among the family that no matter where she went, Jan always met someone she knew. Jan retired to Florida (and later to Paia, Maui) to be with family and friends and enjoy travel, golf, bowling and dancing. A true patriot, she was a tireless and devoted member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Palisades Park and served as president. She continued her participation in Florida as an active member of the VFW Ladies Honor Guard. She also served as President of the Palisades Park Women's Club Evening Division. Funeral mass and burial to be held at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery, VA. For condolences or information contact (201) 944-0100 or www.frankpatti.com
