I have so many fond childhood memories of Walter. He and Aleta, were young adults when I was a child and they absolutely always took us everywhere and were kind, attentive and FUN.
Walter, in particular, was always up for a good time. His red Comet was our transportation to countless day trips and special everyday moments.
One such moment came flooding back today. Walter and Aleta took us for ice cream and the car radio was playing (and it thankfully was not
my Dad's favorite WNEW AM with Willism B Williams). I can still hear "I'm Henry the Eighth " by Herman's Hermits filling the car and Walter cracking us up singing along with a British accent
Walter and Aleta seemed like celebrities to me. I was 6 when they got married and I was soooo impressed. It was like a fairy tale. I spent many hours daydreaming about how I would have a life just like their's when I grew up.
Walter always took an interest in me and made ne feel special. He helped to add a little bit of magic to a little girl's life. I will always be grateful.

Most of my favorite childhood memories involve Walter and being at 420 First Street. Aleta and Walter were our older cousins. Old enough to take us everywhere but young enough to always add fun. I vaguely remember kite flying in the trunk of his red car (back when there were no safety rules). After they got married and had Lynee and Alexia they continued to include me in anything that they did. One of my fondest memories is that Walter was always in the kitchen on holidays helping Aunt Vera cook. He reminded me of the galloping gourmet when I was a kid. Much love Jennifer (Jones Anderson)
