Alonso Gutierrez

I will always remember the countless times Jaime welcomed me into his and Luz Elena's home. It was a home filled with love, happiness, cafecitos, and, of course, music. There was never a weekend that by about 7:30 or 8 in the morning, you could hear Jaime, shuffling around in the room next door, playing one of his hundreds of recordings. Thanksgiving will always hold a place in my heart because of the joy Jaime got from me hanging up the Christmas lights on the Giraldo front porch. Jaime was a wonderful man and will be so missed. Sending Luz Elena, Laura, Ana, and Bill hugs and thoughts of healing and peace.

We will always remember Jaime with love and admiration. Spending time with Jaime and Luz Elena was always fun. He enjoyed sharing his love of music, telling stories and laughing while we listened to old songs. A great doctor who never hesitated to help when we needed him.
Jaime was a gentleman, respectful of every one and a great friend.
We miss him but we are very lucky to have been part of his life for many years. Have a great journey our dear friend!

Jaime loved us and we loved him. As far as we were concerned, we were family. He was Uncle Jaime to our children and he called my father in law Uncle Larry.
When our first child, Danielle, was born, her dad asked Jaime if he would be her pediatrician and would he make house call, if needed. He made many house calls from Queens to Port Washington without a complaint.
When anyone in our family was sick, the first call went to Jaime. That was how much Anthony, my husband, trusted Jaime and his medical knowledge.
When we lived in New York, we spent every holiday together with our families and, at Easter with the entire DeLuca Clan. I will miss his call this Thanksgiving when he always asked if I used canned apples for the apple pie. It was an inside joke that lasted for 50 years.
Jaime, we will miss your sense of humor, and your love.
Our hearts ache for Luz Elena, Patti, Andrea, Colette, Laura, and the entire family. May God bless them and you, Jaime. You left a big legacy and the world was a better place because of you.. Memories, of which we have so many, will keep you in our hearts forever.
Marie and Anthony.

Dinner table conversation with Papi was always filled with laughter and lighthearted conversation. I’m his retirement, Papi had a little more free time to spend on the internet and would share with us some of the things he had found online that day. One particular day, he had stumbled across a radio interview that we all just needed to hear. I don’t think Papi realized that after sharing this story with us, I would never be able to see a “deer crossing” sign without thinking of him. If you have not heard Papi’s rendition of this story, I encourage you to look up “woman misunderstands deer crossing sign”, and envision Papi sharing this story in his own words. Papi, thank you for always making me laugh. Te Amo.
