Obituary of Jose A. Di Matteo

 

Di Matteo, Jose, A., age 90, of Fort Lee, passed away on Sunday June 18, 2023. He was born on April 28, 1933, in Altavilla Milicia, Palermo, Sicily, Italy to the late Vincenzo and Maria Stella (nee: Aiello) Di Matteo. Beloved husband to the Late Dina (nee: Perrone) Di Matteo. Loving father to Sylvia Tommas, Daniel and Anselmo (Nidia) Di Matteo. Cherished grandfather to Daniel Anselmo, Daniel Jorge, Michael Tommas and Luca Di Matteo. Loving Brother to Salvatore and Mariela. He is predeceased by his sister Domenica and his brothers Angelo, Gino, and Calogero. Pino left Sicily in 1952, and on the way to the port of Genova, an a train stop in Napoli, met the love of his life Dina from Calabria.  They were to embark on a ship taking them to a new life in Argentina.  He worked as a pressman in the printing division of the federal police of Buenos Aires. In 1973 Pino moved the family to New Jersey.  He worked in the gear manufacturing industry specializing/refining gears for the Department of Defense.  He retired working for the borough of Fort Lee school district (School 4)….where he had to endure the weather elements and strenuous walk of 50 yards from the house.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 21, from 3-5 & 7-9pm at the Frank A. Patti & Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street "opposite the Fort Lee Library.
