Obituary of Cornelius Duggan
Cornelius J. Duggan passed away peacefully on September 20, 2023 at Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River, NJ, surrounded by his family. Born in County Cork, Ireland, in 1936, Corneius left Ireland at the age of 17 and moved to Toronto, Canada. Soon after he moved to Edgewater, NJ. and became a mechanic for the New York Transit Authority, which he retired from after 30 years of service. After a brief retirement, Cornelius started a second career for Prentice Hall book publishers, where he served as a building engineer. Cornelius loved spending time with his family at his home in Leonia, NJ for 60 years. He also loved traveling to new places with his wife, Phyllis, and his yearly trips to Ireland to visit with his extended family and friends.
Beloved husband and soul mate of the late Philomena Duggan (nee Bohen), loving father of the late Francis Duggan and his wife Christine Duggan, Pauline Duggan Pellegrino and her husband, David Pellegrino, and Deirdre Duggan. Devoted grandfather to Joseph and Olivia Duggan, Kate and Nina Pellegrino, and Hyatt and Fiona Cohen. Cornelius is predeceased by his late sisters, Noreen Cox and Maureen Whalen, and his brother Denis Christopher Duggan. He will be missed fondly by his nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors throughout the world including the United States, Ireland, and England.
The family will receive family and friends at Frank Patti Funeral Home in Fort Lee, NJ on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 4 PM to 8 PM. The Funeral will be held at St. John’s The Evangelist Church, in Leonia, NJ at 10 AM on Saturday, September, 23, 2023.
