Obituary of Chrystalla Kanakis

Chrystalla Kanakis, (nee: Georgiou), age 86, a 52 year resident of Palisades Park, formerly of Fairview & West New York, passed away peacefully on Monday September 25, 2023.  Born in Lefkara, Cyprus, she immigrated to the United States in 1952.  Her life was centered around her love for her family, her faith, and the Church.  She was a devoted member of The Ascension Greek Orthodox Church in Fairview, NJ for over 70 years.  Chrystalla was a member of the choir, the Philoptochos Society, and spent countless hours dedicated to the philanthropic mission of her church. 

Beloved wife of 58 years to her husband Christos Kanakis. Devoted mother of Katherine Shoshilos and her husband Nicholas, and George Kanakis and his wife Madeleine.   Adored Yiayia of Christina and Lucas.   Dear sister of Demetrios Georgiou and late brothers Andrew and Achilles Georgiou.  

The family will receive their friends on Sunday from 2-6 pm at the Frank Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Directors at 327 Main Street “opposite the Fort Lee Library”.  Monday the family will receive their friends from 10-11 am at The Ascension Greek Orthodox Church at 101 Anderson Avenue, Fairview, NJ. Services will begin at 11 am at the church.  Interment to follow at Hackensack Cemetery.
