I still remember the first time I met MK. How could I ever forget someone so unforgettable! Esther invited MK for supper, shortly after our December 1989 engagement. MK was like a big brother to Esther, looking after her during the years she waitressed at the West Gate. So he was there to check me out. We immediately hit it off and had a great evening together. Some of my favorite memories of MK:
1. Wedding photographer par excellence who asked me if it would be okay if we took one picture of him with my bride.
2. Visit to Wooster, Ohio shortly after our twins were born in June 1991. I don't think he had held a baby in years. But he very gently carried both of our newborns at once.
3. Visit to Albertville, France in 1996. MK would have preferred if the whole world spoke English ... but came and spent nearly a week with us while we were in French language study.
4. Letters. MK would write us occasionally while we were in Africa. His letters were entertaining and sometimes contained a $20 bill.
5. Visits to Nyack and Carlisle. MK made it a point to visit us during everyone of our home assignments. He would sometimes bring his scrap books and loved to talk about old times at the West Gate in Nyack.
MK was a dear friend who we are really going to miss. We send our love, prayers and sympathy to Zak and the whole family.
