Anna Hambor

Obituary of Anna Adele Hambor

Anna Adele Hambor, 90, passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones and her dog Princess at her side on November 11, 2023. Born in Breman Germany to Georg and Wanda Rurade on March 4, 1933.

Anna was radiant, beautiful, loving, fiercely loyal, and brave. She struggled against poverty in war-torn Germany as a child; she fought against injustice for her family, friends, and strangers. She fought for truth. Anna loved animals and formed meaningful connections with all her pets over the years. She enjoyed playing Canasta, Rummy, and other games with her sisters and daughters. Anna worked for Scheutzen Park for decades, and her German heritage was a major influence in her life and the lives of all around her. She belonged to a shooting club, where she became Queen by virtue of being an excellent shot and competitor. Everyone who knew her will have their own memories of her, but no one can estimate the value and grand span of this woman's 90-year story. She was a devoted mother and wife. She was tough when she had to be. She was funny and hard working. She loved to dance and sing. She had a beautiful smile. We have a thousand little stories to keep her alive in our hearts. Anna is preceded in death by her husband, John Hambor; sisters Marga Vitale, Anneliese Eckblad, Wanda and brother Georg Rurade. Survived by daughters Marietta Rurade, Wanda Cooke, and Janice Hambor; sons-in law Bill Cooke and Shayne Bornt; grandchildren Billy and Cami Cooke, and Ryan Ustas and her brother-in-law Frank Hambor.

Anna is also survived by her companion John Prisendorf and his family that loved and will miss her very much. She will also be missed by John’s Great-Grand Daughter Amelia Koonce who loved to wake up every day and go downstairs to give Grandma Ann a hug and kiss.
