Obituary of John E. Romais

John E. Romais, age 65, of North Bergen, formerly of New York City,  on January 10, 2024.  Born in Jersey City, raised in North Bergen, he worked primarily as a Journalist and wrote several articles for NJ Today magazine.   He graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English and continued his post graduate work at Columbia in film studies, which was his true passion.   For years his friends looked forward enthusiastically to his annual “Oscar Party”.   In recent years he enjoyed teaching English to students of other languages. 

Devoted son of the late Eugene Romais and Mary (nee: Callimanis).  Dear brother of Dimitri Romais and his wife Marie.   Uncle of Michael Romais and his wife Becca Cooper, and Gregory Romais.  Pre-deceased by his sister Zaharati-Joanna Romais.   He will be missed by numerous  family, friends and his godchildren. 

The family will receive their friends on Monday from 10- 11 am followed by a prayer service at 11 am.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, The Greek Orthodox Church of the Ascension, or The Film Foundation.  For further information call (201) 944-0100.
