Obituary of Lorraine K. Parent

Parent, Lorraine, K. nee:Schnirer, age 85, of Cliffside Park, passed away on Thursday December 31, 2015. She was the youngest child of the Lydia (nee Menz) and Michael Schnirer. Lorraine graduated from Schnider High School. She then went on to work in New York in the insurance field. On her 20th birthday she married Norman L. and had her first child, Norman S. in December of 1951. The Young Family then moved to Cliffside Park in 1953 to set down roots, and establish Parent Door Hardware where she joyfully worked until her retirement. She went on to have four more children Scott, Marc, Lauri and Kim. After the passing of her Father, Lorraine became very active in the American Cancer Society doing door to door fundraising and arranging transportation for patients that needed to get treatments. When her children were young she was active in the PTA and Parish Council. She was a member of the Madonna choir and corner stone. She loved to travel, dance, and spend time with family and friends. Lorraine is predeceased by her father Michael (1969), mother Lydia (1986), sister Helen(2002), husband Norman (2003), beloved son Norman(2009) and adored grandson Norman(2009). She leaves behind many broken hearts that were deeply loved and touched throughout her lifetime. Mom will be remembered as a chartable woman that was always willing to lend a helping hand and never thought of herself first. The family will receive their friends on Monday 3-7 PM at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street “opposite the Fort Lee Library”. All are asked to assemble at St Matthew’s RC Church in Ridgefield on Tuesday at 10 AM for the celebration of her funeral mass. Lorraine’s final resting place will take place at Madonna Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. For condolences, directions, or information www.frankpatti.com or call (201) 944-0100.
