Dear Kohlman Family,
My family and I were deeply saddened to learn of Neil's passing. We lost my mom, Jane Dericks, Neil's "girlfriend" at FAM, in December. My brothers and I loved Neil and his stories, and especially his smile, which was contagious. We were not aware of his passing until now but wanted to share some thoughts and perhaps make you smile. We last saw Neil, I think in January, when my brothers and I returned to FAM one last time for communion. His eyes lit up when he saw us and we stayed for some time to talk.
My family kind of adopted Neil after he planted a big kiss right on mom's lips. We couldn't believe he did it, but knew my dad would be roaring with laughter in heaven. Mom didn't seem to mind either. Another crazy thing that happened was my grand neice Emily just ran up to Neil in his wheelchair and jumped in his lap! He was surprised and delighted, and so were we. It happened about a year ago when Emily wasn't even two yet. No one could figure out why she did it, but she probably sensed the friendship between Neil and our family. We'll miss him.
With our deepest sympathy, Mike Dericks and the Dericks family

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family on the loss of your loved one. May God almighty, father of tender mercies and all comfort continue to strengthen you all (2 Corinthians 1:3,4). How eager we all are to see the fulfillment of Gods promise to completely remove death, tears, mourning, outcry and pain (Revelation 21:4). The Bible also provides assurance of the resurrection hope for our dead loved ones (John 5:25). May these promises from God bring you comfort. You can learn more about Gods purposes at www.jw.org

I want to say so much -- all I am going to say is some of the best days I've had were spent with you. Your smile, your love and zest for life and your charming personality will be treasured in my heart forever, dear Neil. We always made so many friends together and so many of them were so sad to hear of you leaving us.
We had something special, a unique friendship that no one could ever take away. You went too soon. We had too many things planned. I will do whatever I can to keep you alive in my heart.
Sending my sympathy to your daughters, grandkids and great grandkids.
You were larger than life and life will never be the same without you - but as Holly said, Heaven got a whole lot more interesting with you there! I'm sure you will never RIP because resting isn't your style! I'll be seeing you...
Love you forever.

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. He and your mother were both fixtures around town for years, always involved and willing to help when and where they could. They're together again now. May you have sweet memories of them both.
