Obituary of Robert Francis Wunsch

Wunsch, Robert Francis (September 17, 1943 - May 25, 2016) died peacefully in Tavares, FL, where he retired in 2007. Born and raised in Englewood Cliffs, he later lived in Rochelle Park for nearly 20 years. While in Rochelle Park he was a very active lifetime member of American Legion Post 170 and organized his carpenter union buddies to provide the free labor to build a gazebo for the Post. He was a member of Carpenter Union Local 15 for 35+ years and served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1969 on the USS Kearsarge. Bob was a kind and generous friend to many. He made new friends wherever he went and loved being among them and being with his family. He will be deeply missed by these friends both in NJ and Florida, especially his first wife, Marianne, who considered him her lifelong friend. His family will forever treasure the many memories Bob gave them and knows that he will now reunite with old friends and family in Paradise. Hopefully the bar is open 24 hours. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Carole Wunsch (née Bornick), his devoted and loving daughters, Stacey Wunsch and husband, William Zwernemann, of Haworth, NJ, and Carey Wunsch and husband, Robert Giannetti, of Greenwich, CT. Also surviving are his four cherished grandchildren: Ava, Andrew, Luke, Lucia, and his four-legged furry ones: Ruby, Sammy and Snoopy. His brother, Donald Wunsch, and wife, Renate, of Carmel, CA also survive. Brother William and sister Joan predeceased him. Bob leaves many nieces and nephews who loved and thought the world of their "Uncle Bobby". The family will receive their friends on Wednesday 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street "opposite the Fort Lee Library". The funeral will leave Thursday at 9:30 AM for the celebration of his funeral mass in St. Cecilia's R.C Church, Englewood at 10:00 AM. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations please be made to Cornerstone Hospice, the Frank and Helen De Scipio House in Tavares, FL or Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River, NJ.
