Where to start?
Life with Dad - Joe Fontana
Dad came to live with us in California last April.
He liked things his way: His soup had to be hot, bread with every meal, and, of course, watch a classic movie every night. It wasn't too long before he was missing what he left behind in New Jersey. Then, again, he enjoyed our blue sky, the view of the mountains, fruit from our trees and sitting under the gazebo or by the pool. When we drove him to the top of our mountain he'd say he felt like he was in heaven.
There are many memories from when I was growing up. Dad always did my homework with me. He loved History; I hated it. But, we both did it together. Dad took me to Yankee games and movies in Journal Square. He was with me when I bought my first car; my beautiful '64 Corvair Monza. And so much more.
Dad was my hero and, most of all, my friend.
I suppose the way things ended was the best we could have hoped for. Dad got sick and went to the hospital for the last time. We were by his side. He knew he wasn't coming home. He told us he loved us and he slipped away quietly and peacefully, holding our hands.
Our finest moments are the memories I keep as his only daughter. I am so pleased we could share these last six months together.
Dad left this world surrounded by love and is now back together with his greatest love, his wife, my mom, Josie.
God Bless You Dad,
Love you always,
Judy and Richard
