Obituary of Ann Squitieri

Ann Squitieri, 92, left this world to be with our Lord and her loved ones on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Ann ( nee Angelina DePalma ) was born March 23, 1925 in Scranton, PA. Early on, the family moved to Bronx, NY where she grew up with her 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Ann's schooling was meritorious as she skipped grades throughout and eventually worked as a Head Bookkeeper for various companies.

Ann married the love of her life, Joseph Squitieri in 1952 and moved to Leonia, NJ with their 4 year old twin boys, Alan and Louis, in 1957.  Their third son, Joseph, was born in December of that same year.  They were Leonia residents for 58 years. Ann continued to work as both Payroll and Business Manager for Double J Trucking Co. owned and operated by her husband, Joseph. Ann moved to Brighton Gardens Assisted Living in Middletown, NJ in 2014 and more recently to Rosecastle Assisted Living, Brandon, Fl.

Ann was an avid solver of crossword puzzles, amazing homemaker, and baked the most scrumptious and envied Christmas cookies. The Italian Anisette Christmas cookies are legendary and continue to be enjoyed as Deeda's granddaughter Erin, has most admirably honored this family tradition.

Ann, or Nini, or Deeda, or Grandma, as she was affectionately addressed, was the heart and soul of the family. Kind, wise, loving, supportive, non-judgmental, and insightful, Ann was truly a special and cherished woman. She was blessed and loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Ann is survived by her two devoted sons, Alan Squitieri, Red Bank, NJ, and Joseph Squitieri along with his spouse, Nancy, Brandon, Fl., sister Marguerite Fasching, nieces; Rae Bugliarello, Nancy Laiosa, Rose Ludwig, Zisa Monteleone and her spouse, John, Laura Palanza and her spouse, Les, Deborah Little, Lisa Palanza, Nancy DePalma Zimmer, Mary Kimbark, and Valerie Collins, nephews; Anthony Ferrara and his spouse, Anne, John Palanza, Robert Palanza and his spouse, Patty, 6 grandchildren; Megan Squitieri, Erin Pagnanelli and husband Michael, Mark Squitieri, Amanda Warren and her husband, Edmond, David Squitieri and Jessica Squitieri, great granddaughter, Emelia Ann Pagnanelli and daughter-in-law, Alison Squitieri. Ann is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph, her son Louis Squitieri, and 8 of her brothers and sisters.

A one hour viewing is scheduled on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Frank A. Patti Funeral Home, Fort Lee, NJ. to be followed by an enichement ceremony and blessing at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, NJ.
