Obituary of Robert Davis
Davis, Robert Harding, age 76, life-long resident of Leonia, on Tuesday January 23, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of Louise and Dudley Davis. Beloved husband of Kathleen Davis (nee: Bohnert). Devoted father of Robert and his wife Lisa, Matthew and his wife Emily, & Maureen Davis. Cherished grandfather of Maxwell, Irene, and Wesley. Dear brother of Dudley, Richard and James Davis. Graduate of St. Francis Xavier High School, St. Peter's College and Columbia University where he earned his Master's Degree. A champion for children, he was an advocate for educational equity. He served as Business Administrator in many school districts including Montclair, Paterson and Midland Park. He was a former NJ Assistant Commissioner of Education. He served at times as Bergen County's Interim Superintendent of Schools and is the current Interim Executive County Superintendent of Schools and Executive County Business Official of Passaic County. He is the Passaic County Technical Institute Board of Education Commissioner and Passaic County Community College Board Trustee. A dedicated Leonian, he coached baseball for thirty years, basketball for St. John's, and was a leader for both cub scouts and girl scouts. A man of faith, he was a lifelong parishioner of St. John's R.C. Church (Leonia) serving on the Parish Council, Holy Name Society and The Knights of Columbus. He proudly served as a Grand Knight for Carmel Council #8982 and a Past Faithful Navigator of St. Pope John the XXIII Assembly #0668. He was an avid reader and sports enthusiast. His happiest days were spent with his family at Barnegat Light swimming and boating. The family will receive their friends on Thursday 6 - 8 pm and Friday 4 - 8 pm at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street "opposite the Fort Lee Library". The funeral will leave Saturday at 9:30 am for the celebration of his funeral mass in St. John R. C.
