Obituary of Joseph A. Testa

 

Joseph A. Testa passed away peacefully on January 29, 2018 at the age of 89.  Born on December 18, 1928 and raised in Guttenberg, Joe was the son of Frank and Nancy.  He enlisted in the Army and served his nation proudly in the Korean Conflict. He worked for the US Post Office and served as Postmaster in Emerson and Ridgefield before retiring. He then worked for Medical Economics in Montvale. He was elected to the Palisades Park Council in 1995 and served on the Council to the present.  Joe was the past President of St. Michael’s Holy Name Society, and was a member and former Post Commander of the VFW.  Joe was a parishioner of St. Michael’s parish in Palisades Park, where he served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Trustee.

   Joe loved spending time with his family, which included coaching his sons in baseball and football. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, sailing and traveling with his family.

   Joe is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Therese.  He will be deeply missed by his children, Judy and her late husband Robert Stout, Joe and his wife Theresa, Diane and her husband Albert Birchwale, and Frank and his wife Jane.  Joe  leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Christina, Nicole, Cassandra, Jennifer, Kevin, Lauren and the late Joseph.  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Alicia, Danielle and Jayden.  Joe leaves behind his loving sister Gloria, brother Frank and his wife Joan, and sister-in-law Jean.  Joe was pre-deceased by his brothers Bart, Jack and Robert. Joe is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

   Family will receive friends on Friday from 3 – 7 pm at Frank Patti Funeral Home, 327 Main Street, Fort Lee.  The funeral will leave 9:30 AM on Saturday  for a Mass celebrating Joe’s life at 10:00 AM, in St. Michael’s R.C Church, Palisades Park with interment at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee.
