Bill, I want to thank you for all of your kindnesses that you have shown me over the years.
Your firm and gentle hand, and your tough love approach, always commanded respect.
Know that I will always honor your memory.

Bill made me feel very important, visible and SEEN for one of the first times in life. I didn’t feel like I stood out anywhere except when I was on the mats w him. I felt strong and accomplished and that was a side of me that my sensei was able to tap into that no one else was- not even my parents. I want to apologize to him for leaving I should have continued on and seen where the gentle path would have taken me. I plan to reacquaint myself with Judo and what it means to me in the near future so when I heard of Bill’s death it hit my very hard and very deeply. I want to send my condolences to his family. His legacy will live on forever in my heart and in the hearts of all of his students. I always felt so small and meek out there in the world but when I put on the gi I felt respected and I respected it (the gi) I moved my way all the way up from scrawny eight year old to eventually become the top guy in the class. Bill has us line up by rank and I always gazed adoringly at the “big kids” with their blue and purple and brown belts, little did I know I was slowly becoming that kid. I enjoyed all of the rituals of Judo like bowing at the end to the sensei, all of the rituals and learning all of the Japanese words. At the jamboree- people would get their promotions. After sweating my butt off for what seemed like an eternity performing rigorous tests in order to go up a level in belts I was ready to get out of there and thought to myself, oh well there is always next time. Bill smirked and said, “Hey Ross Green” and pulled my purple belt out of his gi like a bad ass magician pulls a rabbit out of his proverbial magic hat. I never noticed that he had been wearing the magic hat the whole time. It was one of the proudest moments of my life and I will never forget him.

Please accept my deepest condolences. The following words have helped many to cope with the loss of someone special. 1 Corinthians 1: 3, 4 states "Praise be the God and Father or our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials..."
Our Father, Jehovah God, will help your family and friends cope with such a difficult loss. In 1 Corinthians 15:26 he promises us that "the last enemy, death, will be brought to nothing." I hope the family and friends can find some comfort in this promise.

Thank you, Grandpa. Thank you for my life. Thank you for passing on your beautiful attributes to the family. Thank you for making my father a strong man. He is so like you even if he doesn't see it sometimes! We love you. I am a firm believer in the afterlife, the angels, spirits, God, mercy, goodness... I know you are still alive in the next level. You're over the rainbow now. Heaven has a new expert painter. I hope you meet all the best angels for you... You're probably there learning so much!!! Have fun, William! There is much to come. Life is eternal. God be with you always.
Ever your loving granddaughter,
Stevie R. Camal

Sensei wa a true modern man, He had the heart of a warrior alongside the gentility of a lamb, Although he was an exceedingly accomplished martial artist, his true gift was hisability to communicate. Sensei could create a mental picture for his students to mimic. His abilities were wrapped-up in a sense of humor which put even the most hesitant student at ease. Although Sensei was already the father of four fine sons to manhood whom he & his beloved wife, Dor, raised in Washington Hts, Sensei treated each student as though they were his own child! I will miss him geatly.A new valiant warrior, named Bill Camal, has just just joined St Michael's legion for the Final Battle with Lucifer!
