Obituary of Ethel M. Sweeney

Ethel M Sweeney, nee:Gould, age 101, lifelong resident of Edgewater, on Wednesday November 20, 2019.   Born in Edgewater, daughter of John and Helen Gould, she was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Angels class of 1936.  A graduate of Berkley Secretarial School, she enjoyed a lengthy career at Edgewater National Bank.  Her senior years were spent as a Library Aide for the Edgewater Library.  She volunteered her time to the food pantry at Holy Rosary R.C. Church where she was a faithful parishioner.  Beloved wife of the late John Patrick Sweeney. Devoted mother of Eileen Sirignano and her late husband Neil, John Edward “Jack” Sweeney and his late wife Maureen, Doreen Mackin and her husband Michael, Dennis Sweeney and his wife Marcella, and the Late William Sweeney.  Cherished grandmother of Meghan, Sean, Brendan, Katherine, and Matthew.  Dear sister of the late Charles “Chick” Cunningham and his wife Irene.  She will be missed by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

The family will receive their friends on Friday 4:00 - 8:00 pm     at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street “opposite the Fort Lee Library”.  The funeral will leave Saturday at  9:15 am  for the celebration of her funeral mass in Holy Rosary RC Church at 09:45 AM.
