Obituary of Pio Joseph Decaminada

Decaminada, Pio Joseph, age 83, of Englewood Cliffs, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. He was a resident of Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey for the past fifty-five years.  Born in Gebo, Wyoming, he moved to Brooklyn, New York with his family at the age of 2. There he met his childhood sweetheart Concetta.  They married on April 4, 1959.  After receiving his accounting degree at Hunter College, Pio worked as an Accountant for Weineck, Saunders and Co. for over 40 years in New York City. He was an active parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fort Lee where he served as a member of the parish council and usher. He was also Treasurer of the Englewood Cliffs Seniors Club.  He was proud of his northern Italian heritage and was a member of Club Trentino.  He was passionate about travel, trivia, and the New York Yankees.  Most of all, Pio loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.  He loved to entertain them with his jokes and “true” stories.  Pio is survived by his devoted wife Concetta (nee Russo) of 61 years, daughter Katharine Schwab and her husband, Mike, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Maria.  He is predeceased by his parents Pio and Ida Decaminada as well as his three older brothers, Frank, Eugene, and Joseph. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, services will be private for immediate family only.  If interested, close family and friends are welcome to contact Madonna Mausoleum to schedule their own private visitation to pay their respects.  A memorial mass and celebration of Pio’s life will take place at a later date when family and friends can celebrate together again safely.
