We are deeply saddened by the passing of John snr.
On many occasions over the years when visiting NYC we had the pleasure of being warmly welcomed into your lovely home. We greatly appreciated your kindness, generosity and genuine Italian hospitality which was extended to all of our family and friends, and we have treasured memories of those occasions.
We will always remember you as an understanding, kind and gentle family man.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to all The Avallone family.
Yours
Fam Belle - Deborah, Federico & Sam

John was a wonderful brother. He was very loving, caring, generous, funny, clever and had a great sense of humor. John always succeeded at everything he attempted. He was a good man and we are going to miss him. John always sang to us on our birthdays. We are going to miss those calls.

My deepest condolences, prayers and thoughts are with Natalie, Dominick and John, Jr. tonight.
John Avallone Sr. - "Big John" - was a presence in my life since 1965 when my family moved to 53rd Street. I have a wealth of memories of the man; his consistency and integrity, his strength of character, sense of Duty, Honor, Country; as well as his dry sense of humor.
John was kind and unceasingly generous almost always including the 'skinny Irish kid' from next door in whatever he was doing with his own two sons. His home was always a welcoming place. From the days of the paper routes, the '57 Chevy and the whole crew, I learned many things from Big John. I sought his advice and counsel literally throughout my life; he was always an attentive listener asking probing questions that would often lead towards an answer. I thank him for all that and so very much more.
John Avallone is Safely Home now in the Light and Warmth of the Lord and in the company of those closest to him who preceded him in passing.
He will forever be Honored, Remembered, and Respected for his lifetime of unselfish service, his goodness and for all the lives he touched.
Rest Easy, Mr. Avallone, your work here is over. You are now Safely Home.

DEAR AUNT NATALIE, DOMINICK, AND JOHN JR.;
UNCLE JOHN WAS SIMPLY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.
A DEDICATED MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY WHO STRIVED TO ACCOMPLISH ALL HE COULD FOR HIS FAMILY, COUNRTY, COMMUNITY AND CHURCH.
A MAN WHOSE DEVOTION TO DO GOOD FOR OTHERS COULD NEVER BE QUESTIONED. STRANGERS AS WELL AS FAMILY BENEFITED FROM HIS KINDNESS.
THE GREAT STATESMAN, EDMUND BURKE, MUST HAVE HAD SOMEONE LIKE MY UNCLE JOHN IN MIND WHEN HE WROTE:
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"
FOR SURELY, HE HAS PROVED THAT WHEN GOOD MEN DO SOMETHING -
THEY CAN STOP EVIL.
STRONG CHARACTER MATCHED WITH GENUINE KINDNESS CAN AFFECT SO MANY PEOPLE. IF ONLY THERE WERE MORE MEN LIKE JOHN AVALLONE.
THANKS TO YOU FOR CARING FOR MY MOTHER, PALMIRA, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.
ALL MY LOVE TO MY UNCLE JOHN,
YOUR LOVING NIECE,
LISA

Uncle John (as we knew him) was one of the kindest and classiest men I have ever met. Since our daughter, Melissa, married into the Avallone family, we came to know John & Natalie as a wonderful addition to our greater family. Bonnie & I will miss John and our hearts and prayers go out to Natalie and the rest of the family.
