Obituary of John Patrick Avallone

Avallone, John, P., age 90, of Englewood Cliffs, on Saturday April 8, 2017. Born, raised and resided in West New York, NJ to Dominick and Antonietta Avallone. Graduate and Class President of Memorial High School Class of 1944. He enlisted in the US Airforce and attended Rutgers University and Biloxi, Mississippi for training. Upon graduating he was stationed in Anchorage Alaska and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1953 he joined the Port Authority of NY/NJ Police Force where he served for 21 years. In 1958 he met the love of his life Natalie Millevoi they were wed in 1960 and were married for 57 years. John, known to his friends as "JPA" was the proud father of his two sons Dominick and John Avallone, Jr. He was adored by his four grandchildren Jonathan, Oliver, Jack and William. Dear brother of Lucy Giarratano, Ralph and Anthony Avallone. Pre-deceased by sisters Nancy Vergona, Mary Hargaden, and brother Domenick. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. "JPA" was a man of many endeavors and accomplishments, he was a successful business owner of a Daily News Route, a parishioner, Usher and Trustee of Holy Trinity Church of Fort Lee and was an award winning poet. The family will receive their friends on Tuesday 4-8 pm at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street "opposite the Fort Lee Library". The funeral will leave Wednesday at 10:00 am for the celebration of his funeral mass in Holy Trinity RC Church at 10:30 AM.
