Obituary of Eileen Jones

EILEEN MARY JONES (3/7/1949-10/7/2019)

Cherished friend, consummate professional, Best Mom…               

Eileen M Jones passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Guttenberg, NJ on October 7.

A star in every sense, Eileen was loved and respected by everyone who had the good fortune to meet her. Her sense of humor and love of life made her the very definition of vivaciousness. Her happiness was infectious.

Blonde, blue-eyed, whip-smart and independent, Eileen was able to take anything or anyone by the horns and deal effectively with any situation. Having the inside track to just about every player in the Apple, she navigated those sometimes murky waters with class and elegance. 

She was 100% loyal and trustworthy, and her kindness and professional skills made her invaluable as the right-hand woman to the Rohatyn family for the last 20 years. 

However, her happiest role was being Mom to beloved daughter Nicole.

This Saturday, she will be at Nicole’s side in spirit, when her daughter marries Rob Ayala. (Yes, Rob has the Eileen stamp of approval.) 

It will be a twofold celebration… of Nicole and Rob’s love, and of Eileen’s extraordinary life.

She is survived by her daughter Nicole Jones, future son-in-law Robert Ayala and her pal Maggie.

Come on, Eileen! Cue Dexy’s Midnight Runners: “poor old Johnny Ray sounded sad upon the radio.” As do we all, Dexy. As do we all.  Too-ra-loo
