Obituary of Karen P. Fitzgibbons
Karen (Pfeuffer) Fitzgibbons ,70 of Teaneck passed away peacefully on January 23, 2021 after a five month struggle with Colon Cancer. Born in Teaneck on January 6, 1951 Karen grew up in Cliffside Park. After graduating from Montclair State she began a career as a teacher for the Bergenfield Board of Education first at Roy Brown and later at Bergenfield High where she became known for leading field trips to interesting historical sites and cultural events. Upon her retirement from teaching, she turned her hobby of creating stained glass art into a full-time business, Karen Roberts-Stained Glass. She toured the East Coast exhibiting at craft shows and developed a following for her classic cats and whimsical Fairy Doors.
She is survived by Brian her husband of 46 years who she met while working part time at Sterns. Together they have traveled throughout the world singling out Hawaii as their favorite vacation destination but always happy to sample the Bergen County restaurant scene and what was happening at the Borgata in Atlantic City.
She leaves behind a group of her fellow traveling artisans as well as her niece Erin Carabello (Scott) and great nephews, Anthony and Thomas and the newly arrived great niece, Daniella. She is also survived by sister-in-law Nancy Fitzgibbons (Daniel) and Cousin Gary Mc Connell.
A life celebration has been planned for Tuesday July 27th 12:30 pm at Epiphany R.C. Church of Cliffside Park. Please join Brian for the memorial mass a simple reception will follow. For further information please call (201) 944-0100.
